Catherine Alexandra McBride-Chang, Ph.D. is a professor of developmental psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong specializing in the acquisition of early literacy skills.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.psy.cuhk.edu.hk/psy_media/Cammie_files/cammie-cv_02.pdf )〕 She received her BA in Psychology from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio. She received her MA in 1992 and PhD in 1994 from the University of Southern California, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.psy.cuhk.edu.hk/index.php/en/people/teaching-staff/11-people/143-mcbride-chang-catherine-alexandra )〕 She has had two books published, ''Children's Literacy Development'' and ''Reading Development in Chinese Children''.
In her research, McBride-Chang has shown that early childhood reading is important for the development of visual spatial skills,〔.〕 and that Korean middle-school students have high reading skills.〔.〕
